so last summer I was permited to visited the sacond most holiest places of Judasm?
guess where it was? it was in Iran in a city called Hamedan.
I was in a buss tour and then the tourist guide suddenly said stop the buss since he saw something interesting, we exited the buss and was told to follow him by the driver since the the tourist guy…lets call him ‘jack’ has a surprisee for us. we followed him for about 5 to 7 mints following him through a series of allies of old markets and bazaars, we stop at a gate and were told to enter quietly and not disturb the workers to much. we see a relevantly small mosque and ask why did we stop here for and as it turn out that we are looking at the second most holiest places by the jews which dates back around 2700 years old(if i remember right) which was last renovated 700 years ago.
anyways since the place was under renovation we were allowed inside.
First thing i see was very small square looking door which was made out of stone with runes craved out of it with a golden key hole. the ground keeper opens the door with his key and lets us in which we had to get down on our knees to crawl in once we got in it look beautiful inside with the sun coming in through colored glasses and really antic stuff on the shelfs(which will take long to describe so lets leave it at stuff). anyways the ground keeper explained how there was 2 holy people of the Jewish faith buried here and that the reason why the archways are so small is to force you to bow in respect to the writings and the two who were buried there. after telling us that he told us we can proceed in the next champer which he told us we can pray on the graves even though this was a Jewish temple since we are also believer of Abraham and his legacy. here is a photo of the place,

sadly this is the only one that i could find on the internet and the funny thing is that i cant even find much information about this ancient temple anywhere.
According to the ground keeper who was part of an organization who preserved Jewish heritage in Iran said that there is more holy jewish sites in Iran than Israel itself. personally i wouldn’t know that so i came here to ask do Jewish temple in Hamedan also look like that in Jerusalem? and are they that old?
I didn’t know in Judaism like other religions the holy places are "ranked",
I have no idea about Jews in Iran and I doubt the religion was originated there too.. (Obviously it’s Israel)
I just know our holiest place is the West Wall? It’s great and all but I really couldn’t care less about some old buildings.. (And yes I’m a believer)
I hope you had fun and you learned some new things

Iran is huge compare to Israel, it may have more holy places but I’ve never heard of any of them.. I personally don’t believe in those "Holy" stories, but I’m pretty sure there is no other land more holy for Jews in the world.

I’ve never heard of this place before, and have to agree that it is important to Judaism. However, the Second Most Important Site in Judaism is the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. This site, like the HOLIEST, is under the control of the Muslim Waqf. Hamedan does seem to be the place where Jews were told they were allowed back into the Holy Land, and where Mordechai and Eshter are buried, so it is important to Judaism.
Do you know that some of the Baha’i’s holiest places are in Israel, even though they were founded in Iran? They are called the Shrine of the Bab and the Baha’i Gardens. I find it kind of the same with these places, where both Jews and Baha’is are prevented from visiting all of their holiest sites.

it is wonderful to hear that this site is being preserved and tended to.
just so you know, jews dont rank their holy sites. the western wall and jerusalem are classed as holy but jews the world over are so used to their synagogues and other important jewish sites being destroyed that other sites are not really classed as being holy… just important to our history.
i doubt that there is "more" jewish history in iran than in israel… and i suggest to you that some of what you were told is probably for tourism sake, but yet again its wonderful that the site hasnt been destroyed, like many others.
thanks for the info.

I’m Jewish, and I never heard of the place.
Jews don’t rate their holy places.
Jerusalem is clearly the totally dominating holy place in Judaism, and more important to Jews than any place..It is mainly because of the destroyed Temple that Jerusalem has become so important to Jewish identity. The only remaining part of it, the Western Wall, or Wailing Wall is it is also called, is the holiest place on earth.
In my opinion the second dominating holy place is Hebron, where Abraham was buried.
Mt. Sinai, where Moses got the covenant is also important, but not central in Jewish life.
For many Jews, the synagogue in Jerba, Tunisia, is considered the oldest synagogue in Africa and hence sacred.

This magazine http://www.shahyad.net/yahudian/Amaken/A maken.html of the Iranian community in Israel mentions the mausoleum among the Jewish holy sites of interest in Iran.
As others explained, no relic outside of the Land of Israel ranks among our top holy sites. After Jerusalem –centered around the Holy Temple Mount– the other holy cities are: Hebron (Tomb of the Patriarchs), Tiberias, & Tzfat. An additional site is the Matriarch Rachel’s Tomb close to Bethlehem.
Interestingly, if one is ranking Iranian sites, Shia Muslims do consider an Iranian shrine –the Imam Ridha Mosque in Mashhad– to be Islam’s 3rd holiest site (after Mecca and Medina). http://media.www.chibus.com/media/storag e/paper408/news/2002/11/25/GsbBusiness/N onbelievers.Not.Allowed-333818.shtml?nor ewrite200611151242&sourcedomain=www. chibus.com

Though there are undoubtedly many historical Jewish locations in Iran sue to the long history that Jews have had there (dating back to over 2000 years) there is no location in Iran that is considered the "second most holy place in Judaism".
Every synagogue in Judaism has what can be called "sanctity" or Kedusha. That would apply to synagogues in Iran as well. But they would not be comparable to the Western Wall or the Cave of the Patriarchs.

OK, firstly, Dean the Baha’i Holy place was never made in Israel in the beginning. The Baha’is escaped to Haifa when it was still PALESTINE, so Jews were not ruling the country and hadn’t taken it over yet.
Also, quite a few of the Prophets or holy figures in Judaism are buried in Iran.
Prophet Daniel is buried in Susa.
Mordechai and Esther are buried in Hamedan.
Prophet Habakkuk is buried in Toyserkan.
I think the Prophet Ezra is also buried somewhere in Iran.
And there are another 4 Prophet’s, who although not so famous and important, are buried in Qazvin.
